Thank you so much for your interest in the Garden Tomb and in our volunteer programme. We are always looking for new volunteers, those who will be able to commit to the ministry for a number of years, regularly coming to Jerusalem but also promoting the work of the garden back in their home church.
We set an exceptionally high standard for our volunteers, as they are tasked with proclaiming the Good News of the Messiah Jesus to thousands upon thousands of pilgrims and tourists and of serving them sacrificially in the Spirit of Christ.
Volunteers at the Garden work about 40 hours a week (usually 5 days a week) – so being healthy, energetic, and motivated is very important. What we seek are fit and active people who feel called specifically to the Garden Tomb, and not to any of the other wonderful ministries in the Holy Land that also seek volunteers.
You would need to be able to come for an initial trial period at your own expense, and ideally able to commit to future periods of volunteering in following years. You would need to have excellent references from your current pastor and most recent employer.
So please pray about this. And let’s discuss it more if you feel a strong sense of purpose and calling to explore being here, specifically at the Garden Tomb. If you would like to explore volunteering further, please contact us and we will send you some further information.
Please note that we receive many more volunteer applications than we have places. The application process can take some time – often 18 months ahead before we have any opportunity to bring in new volunteers. Multilingual applicants would be prioritized but if you are not multilingual don’t be discouraged from applying.
Thank you again for being open to discovering whether the Garden Tomb is the place for you.
